The genius of finding a winning format for food is that there can be all kinds of flavor variations. Just ask Doritos or Oreo. Pop-Tarts are no exception, offering toaster-compatible rectangular pastries in dozens of filling and topping combinations. However, the downside of providing so many options to consumers is that, sometimes, a particular product can no longer be manufactured. And discontinuation means disappointing the fervent fans of whatever is being axed.
Such was the case with Frosted Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Pop-Tarts which, sadly, started disappearing from store shelves yearsago. They were officially discontinued in 2022. Fans started a petition, and online chatter demanded their return. And now, Pop-Tarts has finally delivered, bringing back the cookie dough-inspired filling and swirled chocolate icing fans will remember.
Starting in November, Pop Tarts Frosted Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough will be returning to stores nationwide — and they’ll remain a permanent flavor. You’ll be able to buy an eight-count box for $3.49.
“Our fans continue to show us how passionate they are about their favorite flavors, which is how we knew it was time for Frosted Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough to make a comeback,” Leslie Serro, Vice President of Marketing for Pop-Tarts, says.

Also dropping in November is Pop-Tarts’ latest innovation, which jumps upon the increasingly prominent protein trend. According to descriptions provided by Pop-Tarts, the three new protein-enhanced flavors are:
Pop-Tarts Protein look and sound a lot like regular Pop-Tarts. However, they will offer roughly double the protein of the regular pastries. According to a Pop-Tarts spokesperson, the serving size of two pastries (one pouch) will include 10 grams of protein from a combination of milk protein and wheat protein. We suppose we won’t be surprised if we start seeing Pop-Tarts pop up in people’s gym bags.
Protein Pop-Tarts will be sold nationwide for a suggested retail price of $3.99 per eight-count box.
From savory oatmeal to cottage cheese pancakes, there are so many ways to fuel up.
